lyrics

Something wild in the wind
She's dreaming of hawks again
Feathers floating to the ground
She'll put them in her flower crown
And then she'll blow away

She's growing wings
Although the falconer was all too pleased
To tie her to a leash
And hide her there among the trees
She did his bidding
So he'd sing to her his songs all day
They calmed the ancient voice that told her

Bird, fly away

Something wild in her brain
When the hood slips off her eyes again
Once hidden
Now full in the light
She sees a path cleared for flight
Soon she'll blow away

She's growing wings
Although the falconer was all too pleased
To tie her to a leash
And hide her there among the trees
She did his bidding
So he'd sing to her his songs all day
They calmed the ancient voice that told her

Bird, fly away
Who are you anyway?
You deserve to fly in the light of day

Now disbelieving on his tongue
When he found the falconer's knot undone

She's growing wings
Although the falconer was all too pleased
He tied her to a leash
And hid her there among the trees
She did his bidding
So he'd sing to her his songs all day
But then the ancient voice said

Bird
Bird
Bird

It's time to fly away
Fly away
Fly away
